Amulets

Boundaries is the first in a series of amulets that I am creating with Toronto jeweller Katie Boyle. Like its name implies, the Boundaries amulet is designed to help protect and maintain your boundaries.

It is the space between the stars that allow them to shine.

In early 2020, I designed the Boundaries amulet as a talisman to help me maintain my own personal boundaries, which is something I’ve always struggled with. My grandmother once told me that the best way to be truly close to another person is to understand that you are both different people, and recognizing that space between you is what makes you strong. The Boundaries amulet has made a real difference for me in my day to day life, making me feel more in control, and empowering me to make decisions in my own best interests.

The primary symbol of the Boundaries amulet is the hand, held upright in the ‘no’ or ‘stop’ position, which represents the need to take my space seriously, communicate it clearly, and to defend it when I need to. The astrological bodies are there to show that it is the space between the stars that allows them to shine. The droplets— represented by a raindrop, a tear, and a drop of blood— are there to remind me of the consequences of not defending my space. 

Katie Boyle, an artist and jeweller based here in Toronto, Canada, handcrafted the original amulet, and now we are working together to bring it into the world for all of you! For this initial run, we are only having 27 of the Boundaries amulet made, and like the original, Katie will handcraft each amulet in sterling silver, using a dark patina finish to accentuate the fine details of the amulet. Every amulet will come packaged with an 18” silver chain.

Please note that orders placed by November 29, 2021 within North America should arrive in time for the holiday season of 2021 (mid- to late- December). However, due to continuing COVID-19 related shipping delays, we cannot guarantee your order will arrive on time. International orders will likely arrive in early 2022. UK and EU customers will need to order via Etsy, and we currently cannot ship to Ireland or New Zealand due to tariff and COVID-19 related shipping issues.
